William Mcnamara

William McNamara is a self-taught artist who works out of his Lambertville studio. His horse head paintings – marked by rough surfaces, bright color, collage elements, and patterned borders – are a sort of journal of the dynamic and ever-changing America he sees during his travels. Startlingly up close and still, a Billy Mac horse has the quality of sitting for a portrait, allowing the paint's energy to express its movement. McNamara’s art has been exhibited regionally for over thirty years; his horses can be found in galleries and historical sites such as Prallsville Mills, and he is also represented in numerous private collections all over the country.
